Rules

These are the rules that determine whether or not you may list a blog at FloridaBloggers.Org and whether or not we will include it.

These rules are really more like guidelines, but we reserve the right to enforce them, and the right to change them at our complete whim and relative moodiness. Follow along, won’t you?

Benefits

1. You do NOT have to be the owner of a blog to submit it for consideration.

2. All accepted listings will be given at least two outbound links to that blog without a “nofollow” link attribute.

Barebone Requirements

1. Floridian: The blog must originate from Florida or be primarily and predominately about a Florida locale (i.e. a person who blogs from Atlanta about “Life in Miami” may include that blog.

2. Real: The blog must not exist for the sole purpose of marketing a singular product or service. In other words, while we are happy to include business blogs, we will not include a blog that is just a bunch of entries that are nothing more than pages about a single item (i.e. a “blog” about a limo service that just publishes “posts” of new rates or destinations). We also exclude blogs that exist primarily to promote “pay-for” content by way of sneak peeks. Naturally, we also exclude splogs.

3. Current: The blog must be up-to-date and current. We remove all blogs that have no posts within 90 days, so if you aren’t posting at least four times a year, don’t waste your time submitting it.

4. Public: The blog must be available to the general public.

5. Comment-Enabled: The blog must have comments enabled. While they do not have to be enabled on every post, we believe that the core definition of a blog requires and allows feedback from internet users. There does not need to be comments on the blog to submit it - only that the blog allows comments.

6. RSS-Enabled: The blog must have an RSS (or RDF) feed enabled for it. We do not care if it is a partial or full feed, only that there is a feed available. In our opinion, this is key criterion that sets a blog apart from standard websites and pages.

7. True Blog: The blog must actually be a blog, both in its look and feel, and its underlying core. By this we mean that we do not include forums, static web pages that allow comments, and other types of websites that emulate parts of a blog but that are, in essence, not a true blog. If you aren’t sure if the blog you are submitting is a true blog, go ahead and submit it.

How to Submit

1. Fill out the Form. Fill out the submission form in its entirety. Do not leave anything blank.

2. Choose a Category. You must choose at least one category. We realize that most blogs do not fit nicely and neatly into one single category. Choose the one that best fits your blog.

3. Choose a County. You must choose the county that your blog best represents. We realize that some blogs cover a multitude of counties (Central Florida, Greater Tampa, etc). If so, you can choose the county in which the majority of your posts cover, or the county from which you reside.

Sit back and enjoy being part of the Florida Blogging community! Tell your fellow bloggers to come list their blogs here, too, or submit their blogs for them!
